Navigating AHPRA and the NMBA

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is the national agency responsible for registering and regulating health practitioners across Australia. The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) sets the standards, codes, and guidelines for the nursing and midwifery professions.

Regulatory matters can be stressful, complex, and drawn out. With an intricate understanding of AHPRA and NMBA regulations and processes, we are well-equipped to assist with registration matters, notifications, and investigations.

Proactive legal advice can help you understand your obligations and minimise potential risks. We can advise you on professional standards, ethical conduct, and obligations under relevant codes and guidelines.

If you are facing a regulatory challenge or simply want to ensure you are compliant with the relevant laws and guidelines, contact the experienced team at QNMU Law for a confidential discussion.

Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT)

The Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) plays an important role in reviewing certain decisions made by AHPRA and the National Boards. If you disagree with a decision made by AHPRA or the NMBA regarding your registration or a disciplinary matter, you may have the right to seek a review by QCAT.

We have extensive experience representing health practitioners before QCAT. Our team can:

  • Assess the merits of a potential QCAT review
  • Prepare and lodge your application for review
  • Gather and present compelling evidence to support your case
  • Provide skilled advocacy during QCAT hearings

QNMU Law is committed to providing proactive and effective legal solutions for health practitioners in Queensland. Our goal is to deliver clear, practical advice and strong representation to protect your professional reputation and career.
